Villa Poggio Salvi

Villa Poggio Salvi name is derived from its fortunate location on the hill of Montalcino with the highest southern-facing vineyard in the region overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Since ancient times, the clean air perfumed by the dense oak forests and the Mediterranean has attracted those coming from Maremma. It has always been considered a salubrious and pure area, where people sought refuge. In fact, Poggio Salvi translates to “Hill of Salvation.”

It is recorded in the Montalcino Historical Archives that as early as the 16th Century this place was renowned for its prestigious wines. One of the few underground wineries in Montalcino, Villa Poggi Salvi consists of 100 acres of estate vineyards producing sustainably grown hand harvested Brunello since 1980.
